Can you ride a bike to Egmond aan Zee?

You can easily rent a bike at the reception desk of our vacation park. In just 15 minutes, you can cycle along a beautiful dune route right into the center of Egmond aan Zee (no hassle with parking!).

Popular bike routes in the area:

The Egmond Dune Route (approx. 25 km): cycle directly from our park into the breathtaking North Holland Dune Reserve. This route takes you along winding shell-strewn paths through the dunes, past the artists’ village of Bergen, and back to Egmond via the polders.
Coastal Route to Castricum or Schoorl: in the mood for a longer ride? Follow the iconic National Cycling Route (LF Kustroute). Cycle south toward Castricum aan Zee or take the northern route toward the impressive Schoorl Dunes, home to the tallest dunes in the Netherlands.
Polder and History Route to Alkmaar (approx. 10 km): Ride eastward through the quintessentially Dutch polder landscape to the bustling cheese town of Alkmaar. Along the way, enjoy historic windmills, historic farmhouses, and expansive meadows.

Are dogs allowed in Egmond aan Zee?

Egmond is a very dog-friendly beach town. On large sections of the beach, your four-legged friend can run freely (outside of peak season or during designated times).

Summer season (May 1 through October 1):
- Between 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., dogs are only allowed on a leash on the special activity beaches (the beach sections outside the main walkway). Dogs are not allowed on the sunbathing beaches during the day.
- -Running: Before 10:00 a.m. and after 7:00 p.m., your dog is welcome to run freely anywhere on the beach— , and —and swim!
Winter season (October 1 through April 30):
- The entire beach is one big off-leash area! Your dog is allowed to run, play, and get some fresh air off-leash all day long on the kilometers-long sandy beach.

Want a change of pace from sand between your dog’s paws? From EuroParcs De Woudhoeve, you can walk right into the impressive North Holland Dune Reserve. Dogs are welcome year-round in this vast nature reserve (though they must be kept on a leash due to the wild cattle and horses). In addition, there are special off-leash areas and dog-friendly forests in the surrounding area where your four-legged friend can roam safely.

Where can I park in Egmond aan Zee?

Are you driving to the beach or downtown Egmond aan Zee? If so, please note that paid parking applies throughout the village and at all beach access points. Here’s a summary of all the useful information you need for a worry-free visit:

Paid parking:
- From March 1 through October 31, paid parking is in effect daily throughout Egmond aan Zee (usually between 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. or 8:00 p.m.). During the winter months, parking is free at many locations, or different hours apply.
Parking Zones & Large Parking Lots:
- For a day at the beach, it’s best to park at the larger parking lots just outside the center, such as the Watertoren Parking Lot or the De Zuid Parking Lot. From there, it’s just a few minutes’ walk across the dunes to the beach.
